About the Image(s)

This is one of the most visited architecture in Berlin, Germany. I took this picture with my Canon R5 and a sigma lens 24-70mm by 70mm, aperture 8, shutterspeed 1/200 and ISO 100. We couldn’t get closer to the object this time, so I have to crop the photo. Later I decided to turn it into monchrome too. Accept normal steps (brightness, sharpness, etc.) there is no further editing.

Hi Peter: A very well balanced composition; the edges of the two bridge towers are precisely the same distance from each side of the frame. I think this was planned and not an accident. A lot going on in the image with the tour boat and many people on the bridge.

I like both images, they are different in character. The original is a good travelogue image while the monochrome conversion has more drama and impact. The technical part of the monochrome conversion is excellent. I like the thin white border, it adds that finishing touch.   Posted: 07/06/2025 05:12:22

Peter,
Your color version is a nice travel photo. Your monochrome image takes that up a level. The image is well-composed and processed. My only very minor thought is that I wish you'd waited a couple of seconds later to allow the boat to be more centered under the bridge. Otherwise, it's spot on.   Posted: 07/24/2025 17:03:08

Thanky you Murphy, thank you Henry. The original brings the bridge into focus better. I tried to play with the contrasts, but I didn't quite succeed-the bridge is "swallowed" by the background.

Peter, I think you are right - the color contrast that makes the bridge stand out in the original is missing in the B&W. I tried an edit using the LR B&W 7 preset which helps a little I think. Unfortunately, there are no clouds or detail in the sky.   Posted: 07/28/2025 15:32:08
