About the Image(s)
The monthly challenge for a photo club I belong to is "missing people". I submitted this image taken at a cemetery in Logan Utah. The cemetery setting and empty benches both imply missing people, in multiple ways. Sony A7R5, 1/500, f/9.0, iso 100, 16mm. Edited in Lightroom.

Hi Sheldon: I like both pictures for different reasons.
In this scene I prefer the original as it does a great job of showing the age of this old monument in its deteriorated condition with its rust and orange lichen patches in various places. With a little research I found this cemetery was created in 1869, I just wonder how long those old badly rusted metal benches have sat there.
The monochrome conversion probably has more drama than the original. Just my thoughts !!   Posted: 07/05/2025 21:11:22

Sheldon,
I'm drawn to empty park benches and photograph them a lot. I really like this . The corner composition works well and your black and white processing is very good. My only suggestion would be to remove the twigs at the bottom of the frame. They add to the forlorn nature of the scene, but they also draw my eye away from the main subjects - those benches.   Posted: 07/24/2025 17:09:49

Sheldon, I like your conversion. The ancient look of the benches is a very good story. I only noticed the twigs when I read Henry's comment.   Posted: 07/25/2025 00:07:27
