About the Image(s)

We were driving on a road along the coast of Monterey California. It was a cloudy day but the sun would sometimes break through and illuminate the crashing waves and the rock formation called The Point. My original photograph was taken with my infrared camera and the original image shown is just a basic black and white conversion. I liked the overall composition but darkened the image and added more contrast to make the image more dramatic. In Photoshop I also straightened the image, reduced noise, eliminated numerous spots and cropped some off the right side.

Jim, you captured the dramatic in the right way! Very good decision to shoot the waves sharp! Big shot!   Posted: 11/11/2024 09:09:00

Excellent choices, Jim! I like the way the "V" in the waves mirrors the rock peak in the background. Processing is spot on for the subject. This would print beautifully.   Posted: 11/15/2024 18:07:56

Jim - The Big Sur region is one of my favorite places in California. I'll be there the first week of December.
I love ocean shots and you caught a good one here. However, I see it as a nature shot, so removed the fence stuff on the rock (Gen. Fill). I flipped the image and think it's better balanced with the white water at the bottom left pulling your eye in rather than at the bottom right pulling your eye out. Great detail - can even see the birds on the rock. Just my two cents' worth!   Posted: 11/16/2024 18:19:14
