About the Image(s)

I took this photo right before the pandemic in Egypt. I captured this image with my old iPhone. I cropped the image to emphasize the door, adjust the color, a little healing at the bottom lower corners, so the eyes wouldn’t be distracted with the whites, and tiny vignette at the 4 corners.
Attached is also the original image.

A locked door to say the least! The white doors draw you inside wondering what's in there. The textures, colors and wording make it a very interesting photo.   Posted: 09/12/2023 10:26:25

I've had to review this photo several times in order to appreciate what I see. Your adjustments to the original are done well. The yellow paint, the language written on each surface, the locked door, the crumbling stone wall, the age of it all. All the elements leaves me wanting to know more about the story that's being told. Great job!   Posted: 09/17/2023 17:07:01

Linda, although the colors are bright, the impression of decay and hopelessness prevails. The door is locked; the house is boarded up - for whatever reason. It will be a sad story behind it. Still a great time document.   Posted: 09/20/2023 09:45:10

Thank you all! I recall capturing this scene in a narrow alley. I had to hurriedly snap a quick shot and then rush to catch up with the group. This was one of the drawbacks of joining a tour group rather than a photography-focused one. Nevertheless, I'm immensely grateful for the chance to participate in this eye-opening trip to Egypt. It took place just before the pandemic, and it's a memory I hold dear. ~Linda   Posted: 09/20/2023 22:06:51
