About the Image(s)

This was taken in a cow pasture and the color in the sky was there but not quite this vivid but I helped out by using sky replacement and there were birds in the sky. I added some additional birds.

A very nice image, but I would take out some of the birds.   Posted: 10/10/2021 15:28:33

Thanks! The tree and chimney (and the house I suspect) were filled with birds. They would take off the settle then repeat. Had I put on a longer lens, this would be a bird picture, lol!

I like the lighting and don't object to the birds. However, the tree sort of overwhelms. I can't tell if the tree is partially dead or if there is a live tree behind. Anyway, it's a very large object and wish it was smaller.   Posted: 10/12/2021 12:03:23

I think it is sort of half dead. Wonder if it was a parasitic growth? Never tried shrinking a tree but might give it a whirl, thanks!   Posted: 10/12/2021 13:36:58

I like all the birds and the overshadowing tree. These elements lend a bit of mystery to the scene. I am distracted a bit by whatever the blue thing is on the tree trunk.   Posted: 10/14/2021 14:46:45

Lol, I debated whether to leave it in or not but because it is a feeder in the pasture, I thought I would leave in. I wish there had been cows eating out of it but they weren't there when we were photographing.   Posted: 10/14/2021 18:04:33

Lovely shot. Reminds me of Andrew Wyeth's Christina's World. I love the dilapidated farm house, and the location. I don't mind the tree at all, but I would have taken out the blue since there aren't any cows there and it distracts from the rest of the things that are there. I am guessing the birds you added are a bit bigger than the others, and I would have left them out. I love the sky and the crop!   Posted: 10/17/2021 18:57:55

All the elements you are working with (tree, house, field, sunrise, birds) are great to use, and I think you have combined them fairly well. Your group has a lot of very detailed comments, joining you in working on this composition.
My comment is that I don't find the sky colors convincing, because as you said you "helped" the sky, but I think it was to the point of the sky announcing "I am post-processed." So I suggest toning down the sky colors a bit to avoid that.   Posted: 10/17/2021 23:31:04

The sky replacement has been well done and I feel it adds to the moodiness of the scene. I Think the birds are a distraction and I might try cloning them out.   Posted: 10/26/2021 11:03:22

Hi Debbie, I don't mean this in a negative way at all but are you familiar with Hazel Meredith? She teaches in person and has a blog on the internet. I have taken some of her offerings and like her work. This looks similar to what she does.
Very nice, I do like the sky and the entire image. I am partial to abandoned homesteads and often times would like to know their histories. Good work!   Posted: 10/26/2021 11:07:17

I was actually with Hazel when I took this!! I spent several days going out looking at old barns, buildings and other places with her. I would recommend any of her workshops, she is a lot of fun!!   Posted: 10/26/2021 12:24:20
