About the Image(s)

To photograph Long Coc tea hill I shot a five-bracket exposure to capture the highlights and shadows. My aim was to captured the many rolling hills that resemble upside down bowls. In photoshop I adjusted highlights and shadows. This is my first edit of a few tea hills that I plan to process. I’d like to keep it close to its original profile. Let me know your thoughts.

Outstanding crop - you managed to frame the photo with a central cross-cross of the hills intersecting. I might have kept the distant hills just a touch lighter - they disappear fairly quickly and I wanted more detail. Looks like a magical setting!

It was a magical setting and so hard to capture what you see. I'll keep your comments in mind when I process further. Thank you.   Posted: 10/09/2026 21:00:56

Yvonne,

There was a great image hiding inside your submission this month. I used a 2x3 crop to eliminate the top section of the image since the interesting part is at the bottom. A bit of dehaze ... some clarity ... and enhancing the bright parts of the hills ... and you end up with an entirely different look. Not better ... just different.   Posted: 10/04/2026 17:52:45

Bruce, Thanks for taking the time to edit. It is an entirely different look. However part of the beauty of the tree hills was the mist and the green color. I'm still experimenting.   Posted: 10/09/2026 21:04:17

Hi Yvonne,
Beautiful photo!
This was tough for me - I like the original best. I get that one may consider the bush in the bottom left a distraction, but with the foliage at the top left for me it frames the shot. I imagine myself standing beside the bush starting on a quest.
I also like the brightness of the original - it is easier for me to make out the hills.

While Bruce's edit is brighter, the haze is gone.

But there is no bad look here - great image.   Posted: 10/04/2026 22:54:26

Sylvia, I like your perspective of someone viewing from the bush. I agree, the haze is an element I wish to keep. I'll keep your comments in mind when I revisit this image. Thank you for your comments.   Posted: 10/09/2026 21:07:16

Incredible landscape. Nicely composed. Good depth of field. I like your crop. Perhaps it's a little too dark for me to see more of the very interesting details of the hills. I prefer it to be brighter as Sylvia has also suggested. Great job capturing the rolling hills, Yvonne.   Posted: 10/05/2026 00:52:17

Barbara, The landscape was amazing and it's hard not to capture a good composition. I agree that it is a little dark. I'll work on this when I revisit the image. Thank you for your comments.   Posted: 10/09/2026 21:12:51

Yvonne, what an interesting scene. The hills do look like upside down bowls. I'm not sure whether I like the original or the edited version of this, though. I think the edited version is a little dark, but that darkness and the fog adds a little bit of moodiness to it, whereas the original may be a bit too bright. I think your crop works on this. Nice shot.   Posted: 10/07/2026 18:54:09

Randy, This was a five bracket shot and the original posted was the middle shot. From the group consensus sounds like I need to lighten and keep the fog. Thank you for your comments. I'll keep them in mind when I edit further.   Posted: 10/09/2026 21:15:50
