About the Image(s)
On the return trip from the small island of Hiddensee to Zingst, the wind grew increasingly strong. Most of the passengers were already below deck. My husband and I lingered, hoping to take an interesting photo. I leaned over the railing, the wind tugged at my hood, and I liked what I saw. However,
something was still missing. So I asked my husband, who then positioned himself according to my instructions. This is the result, and perhaps you'll like it too.
Suggestions for improvement are, as always, welcome.

I like the leading lines of the guard rail and the overhang. Normally, I avoid f16 and above because of diffraction, but in this case f22 produces a nice sunburst. Posted: 08/01/2026 14:57:42

Sabine, Adding your husband to Evening Mood at Sea creates a very introspective atmosphere. The boat railing and lightening what looks like chair backs lead your eye to your husband. Yvonne, The idea of placing my husband there came to me quite spontaneously. As you wrote, his posture was meant to convey a deep sense of contemplation.

Sabine, I like what you have done with this image. I think you have cropped this well emphasizing the railing leading to your husband. Good call to add him to the scene. The warm tones added give this a peaceful feeling. Nicely done. Posted: 08/09/2026 18:16:58
Randy, I was really lucky. No one else was on deck because the weather was so bad, so I was able to position my husband just right.

Although I'm sure your husband is a wonderful guy, what caught my eye was the enhancements you made with the clouds. You gave them color and depth and even movement. Since I can't see waves or whitecaps on the ocean the wispy clouds are my only clue to a blustery voyage! Posted: 08/10/2026 20:49:48

Douglas, When I look at my photo and compare it to the text, it doesn't even occur to me that someone might miss the high waves of a stormy voyage. But what you wrote is true!!
