 Look Away! by Douglas Gerdts

December 2024 - Look Away!

About the Image(s)

I recently attended a webinar on Snapseed and the instructor provided a clear and easy work flow that I wanted to test out. Here’s the result!

Nice photo!
Since the webinar was Snapseed was this taken with your phone and edited with Snapseed?

Hi!

The photo was taken with my camera but edited on my iPad with Snapseed.   Posted: 12/08/2024 17:03:11

Doughlas, an interesting pose by the model that highlights his body features nicely, though personally, I would like to see a side profile of the model's face which I think might add more interest to the photo. Colorization and the smooth texture of skin and backdrop is done well. The shadow cast on the backdrop of the models head and body adds interest. Maybe seeing the original so that we can see what Snapseed can do?
Nice job!   Posted: 12/10/2024 22:46:38

Douglas, Quite the alluring image! After looking at the original the sepia tone enhances the texture. It calls your attention to the lines of model's muscles and back drop lines. The muscle and back drop kind of mimic each other. Love the color and texture.   Posted: 12/13/2024 23:15:57

Thank you! He's a good person to work with and spends a fair amount of time in the gym…!

Douglas, nice portrait of the model. I like the color and texture of the image. Having never used Snapseed, I am curious as to what edits you did to the image. I can see from the original photo the crop and the sepia tone, but was there more editing done to this?   Posted: 12/15/2024 20:54:25

Hi Randy,

Snapseed is really good and the webinar was a public one. I hadn't used it either but was amazed at how powerful it is.

Douglas, you have really succeeded in creating this great back portrait of a well-trained man. So many muscles, well staged! I like the pose, the right arm is resting on the back of the chair, which, by the way, contrasts well with the rather soft image.
The left arm could perhaps have been bent a little, so the arm looks a little cut off to me.
I don't miss the side profile, the back is the focal point for me. Have you thought about just showing the back with the base of the neck? It might be worth a try, but it's a matter of taste.

Here's the revised crop -- but I didn't do that same amount of post to it.   Posted: 12/16/2024 19:14:04

My attempt, do you think it has a chance?   Posted: 12/16/2024 20:20:42
