Frozen Majesty: A Journey Through Iceland’s Icy Waters by Linda Mui

November 2024 - Frozen Majesty: A Journey Through Iceland’s Icy Waters

About the Image(s)

In this image, a motorboat glides gracefully across a glacial lagoon, dwarfed by towering icebergs that drift in the still, icy waters. The stark contrast between the boat’s human passengers and the ancient ice serves as a humbling reminder of nature’s raw power and beauty. Taken on an unforgettable day in Iceland, this image captures the surreal, almost otherworldly landscape that left an indelible mark on me. Each iceberg, sculpted by time and elements, adds to the feeling of timelessness in this pristine, frozen world.

Linda, A breathtaking landscape. Who wouldn't want to get on the next plane to take photos of icebergs? The colors look very realistic to me, it must not have been easy to edit.
Great photo, certainly one of many that you will find on your hard disk. I am really looking forward to more.   Posted: 11/15/2024 17:40:04

Thank you so much, Sabine! I'm thrilled you found the landscape breathtaking-it truly was an unforgettable experience. I've just returned from Iceland, and surprisingly, I did very little editing to this photo; the colors were naturally this vivid and awe-inspiring. Your kind words and encouragement mean a lot, and I'm excited to share more from my trip in the future!   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:35:00

Linda, I bet this was a great trip. I really like the colors of blues of the ice and the blue-green of the water in contrast with the orange life vests. Maybe it me, but it appears the horizon is not level. Other than that, it's a good photo and makes me want to see more. I'm sure you have many great photos from this trip.   Posted: 11/16/2024 23:22:49

Hi Randy, Thank you, Randy! Iceland was an incredible trip, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the colors. The contrast between the blues of the ice, the water, and the orange life vests really stood out to me too. The horizon could have been off, but I didn't notice it when I took the shot. I appreciate your keen eye, and I'm excited to share more from the trip soon!   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:42:10

Thank you so much, Yvonne! I'm glad you liked the blue colors-it was such a striking scene. The light really made the textures of the ice pop, and I'm happy you noticed that! Capturing the excitement of the travelers was definitely something I wanted to highlight. I'm excited to share more from the trip soon!   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:44:30

I'm on the plane that Sabine is going to charter for us!

This is really spectacular - and I love the mix of modern to timeless. So humbling and grounding.

Linda, this is a great capture of interesting shapes and perfect color. I like the composition of water and ice against the landscape and sky, and the hint of what appears to be a glacier in the upper right corner, as well as the tourist boat in the foreground, adds interest. Very nicely done.   Posted: 11/17/2024 20:31:00

Thank you so much, Jim! I'm glad you enjoyed the composition and colors-it really was an incredible scene to capture. I especially appreciate you noticing the glacier in the corner; it felt like a subtle yet important element of the shot. While I was focused on photographing the glacier, the motorboat unexpectedly came into the frame, adding a dynamic touch to the scene. Your kind words mean a lot!   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:51:04

Thank you, Sylvia! I'm so glad you loved the colors. Honestly, I was speechless seeing this for the first time-nature's wonder with the icebergs on the water was truly breathtaking. It felt like stepping into a dream, and I'm so grateful I could capture it!   Posted: 11/19/2024 22:54:57
