This image was taken in September at Point Pelee, Ontario, when the monarchs migrate from Canada to Mexico.
In LR, I made minor adjustments and added the vignette.
ISO250, 125m, s 1/2000, f4.8.

A simple, but elegant, image. I love how the colours of monarch and coneflower subtly blend together, offset by the contrast with the green stalks and leaves. I agree that the soft focus bud on the left doesn't bother me. Using the colour from the image to create the border is a nice touch. Posted: 04/18/2026 18:09:50
I love how the flowers and butterfly create an arch of yellow, and the background color is a beautiful complement. Good idea to photograph this from a low angle. Posted: 04/18/2026 20:59:29
