About the Image(s)
This is a photo of Filbert street in San Francisco that I took August 2024 at 5:45 AM. I have it in both color and BW. I was at a friend's house and saw a painting of this street, which inspired me to find this location.

Congratulations to you for finding this spot. The way the foreground leads to a sharp change in perspective might be confusing to anybody who doesn't know SF, but confusing in the best possible way. Like Inception, if you catch the reference. This is wonderful! The only thing I'd try messing with if this were mine is the separation between the St. Peter/Paul Church and the sky. I'd be tempted to darken or lighten one or the other so they don't blend together. I think the B&W conversion is excellent. Great Great idea to get out there early!   Posted: 07/13/2025 01:32:48
Thank you for your comments. I agree with the sky (fog) blending in with the building. I struggled with that. It does work better when printed. It also works better in color. It was fun to be there that early in the morning plus we had no trouble getting a parking spot!   Posted: 07/13/2025 23:26:12
Good shot and a great view - gives the viewer the feeling of being there. Fog is something that's difficult to get away from in SF, especially early in the mornings.   Posted: 07/24/2025 07:02:10
The steep street acts as a powerful leading line, pulling the viewer's eye directly toward the church spire. This creates a strong sense of depth and direction. The absence of people adds a contemplative tone. Beautiful image. If possible, a little more character to the sky would enhance the image.   Posted: 07/27/2025 01:14:31
The view I wanted but didn't get as well as this on my visit to SF. The contrast is fine in the bottom 2/3 but gets a little bit lost beyond that. Perhaps it works better in the colour version.   Posted: 07/28/2025 18:58:07
