About the Image(s)
One of my favourite local locations - a ruined cathedral - often visited to see what shadows and light are doing. Winter is usually better as light can get into parts in shade all summer and this was taken in March. This image didn't work for me in black and white and the touches of colour help to make the foreground stand out against the virtually black background.

Hi Alastair
Wonderful atmospheric image the slight touch of colour so works with this image for me the slightly lit railings lower left and upper right so balance the image,I really enjoyed viewing this well seen and beautifully composed image.   Posted: 07/13/2025 11:28:51

Nice job with the mood of this photo. I love photographing in cemeteries. Good parallel lines with the bars. I like the highlights on the rails on middle left side.   Posted: 07/13/2025 23:00:35
Nice play of side lighting and shadow. I keep wanting to be able to see more.   Posted: 07/24/2025 06:57:57
I like the subtle colors. Complementary but gentle, they draw me in by making the scene feel more real than it would in B&W.   Posted: 07/25/2025 18:14:05
Superb image. great chiaroscuro effect, the central illumination evokes a sense of spotlight , while the surrounding darkness adds drama.   Posted: 07/27/2025 01:18:39
Thanks for all the positive comments. I do visit the location regularly as the partially ruined structure means that the light changes often and fast and I am always looking for another new image there.   Posted: 07/28/2025 19:11:20
