About the Image(s)
I always enjoy taking in a vintage 1869 ballgame. Normally I would crop in on just the batter, but I wanted also to capture two other players, including the captain of the Cincinnati Red Stockings leaning against a tree. The player sitting on the bench was definitely enjoying the moment. Therapy over the past three years has improved my back to the point where I am able to step up in weight to a lighter
weight full-frame mirrorless camera. I am now shooting with a Nikon Z7_2 and their 24 – 120mm f4 lens. This image was captured at f/11, 1/500th at ISO 1400.

Nice ball field, front row bleacher seats waiting to be filled. Batter up, first pitch down the pike while the coach is taking mental notes from his make believe dug out.
You have captured this 1869 game perfectly. Reminds me of my neighborhood growing up playing in a Pastured field. I am sure you will enjoy that new camera.   Posted: 09/11/2023 10:05:13

Thanks Paul for your positive reaction and for sharing it reminded you of times past.   Posted: 09/11/2023 16:40:28
I am glad that you are able after 3 years to get a camera that you are really happy with. I think that you are smart to leave all three in the photo, it really tells the story. The lighting is very good, and you captured the ball in a good location. One suggestion, if you have the captain without a leaf over part of his face, is to replace his face with a clear one (that is, if you don't want to use the image as a PJ entry).   Posted: 09/11/2023 15:29:44
Tom, about Nikon I am looking forward to less noise. I wish I had another face shot I could replace with. Thanks for the thought   Posted: 09/11/2023 16:57:13
The ball is well captured but the guy on the left has his face masked by leaves. The sharpness from front to back is good.   Posted: 09/12/2023 00:01:54
Excellent ball capture, but not being a sports person in any way, and looking at this purely from a photographic point of view, I would suggest a close crop of the guy with the ball and the one on the bench would make a 'tighter' image. The man by the trees' face is very odd - maybe leaves in front as already suggested?   Posted: 09/13/2023 05:20:12
Thank you Judith for your viewpoint   Posted: 09/13/2023 11:20:51
Some of the images posted are really interesting from a cultural point of view! Rodeos (no idea they still happened) and vintage sports, not to mention abandoned trucks.... Tis indeed a foreign land! I did visit Atlanta once, years back, but that is my only real contact with the US. So all good stuff to see! :)   Posted: 09/13/2023 11:25:22
You caught the action: The eyes, the ball, and the ready batter. I would keep it as is for photojournalism or just a fun time. The leaf could be removed if you have another shot with the same person without it. Or select the clear side and flip it and align over the leaf. Then use the transform tool to adjust the shape. Cut and paste.
I might mention that noise is unbelievably eliminated with Topaz AI, or Noise reduction, or sharpen. They seem to have different algorithms to accomplish the same thing. I use a noisy canon T7i and my photos have gone to the next level with topaz noise reduction.
