About the Image(s)
The site is called "Bois des Amourettes" a French trem translating to " Lovers Forest". The AI description of the site from the internet is as follows: During the 1940s, while Mauritius was under British rule, the government began construction of the Bois des Amourettes pumping station. Its purpose: This station was part of a fuel storage network intended to supply Allied warships sailing in the Indian Ocean. Large tanks and pipes to pump fuel to the jetty had been built. However, the facility was never fully utilized, and its large, rusted structures are now overgrown with vegetation.
The photo was taken with a Nikon 24-70mm lens at 24mm f/8, ISO 100, 1/4s.
I adjusted the vibrance, mid-tones and the contrast while reducing the green .
Software: ON1.

This image immediately conveys a strong sense of history and place. The rusting machinery surrounded by weathered stone walls and encroaching vegetation tells a compelling story of abandonment and the passage of time. You checked all the boxes save oneā¦
The human eye is drawn to sharpness and light, and your background doesn't just compete with the subject, it overwhelms it.
In my Visual Feedback I tried to make the rusting machinery the unmistakable focal point. I darkened the bright stone wall and selectively enhanced the machinery's contrast and luminosity, to take the viewer's eye immediately to the large gear and rusted components. You be the judge, but I feel the VF image has greater impact, clearer visual hierarchy, and a more compelling storytelling quality. Nonetheless, an interesting image, thank you.
