Yosemite Snow Tops by Tomi Kelley

December 2025 - Yosemite Snow Tops

About the Image(s)

I recently went to Yosemite for a few days the week before Thanksgiving. The weather conditions were not ideal, cold and a little rainy. But the clouds hung near the tops of the valley and I was drawn to the moody cloud cover and snow topped ridges and trees. Here is one attempt to narrow in on one region. I believe I shot this on a tripod, trying a new Peak Design Travel Pro tripod. So far I like it. I darkened the clouds a little and went with black and white. Being in Yosemite nurtures my soul, but can be overwhelming for the photographer: So many possibilities, you can’t capture it all. I got many more panoramic shots than this, but something about these top regions was calling to me...

I love this image for many of the reasons you cited - I tried to get the sky to pop a bit more in my VF   Posted: 12/12/2025 21:55:48

Nice moody image from this great natural area. I like the composition of the "v" between the mountains. The small looking trees at the top add scale. I do like what Butch did with the clouds.   Posted: 12/14/2025 18:15:57

Adding some contrast to the sky uplifts the image.I like the 'V' composition and the B/W contrast ofthe mountains.   Posted: 12/15/2025 04:19:13
