About the Image(s)
I attended this social, cultural and religious event which is held in the area of Kannur city in the state of Kerala in India. This event re-enacts various true incidents which transpired in the past and in which a human form temporarily acquires a status of a living God after the person dons his rather elaborate attire and makeup. The transformation from man to God happens after his head gear is placed on him. The Theyyam then acquires the ability to communicate with the common folk often advising and guiding them on their problems and sometimes even without the common person speaking with them. It is difficult for us to believe in such occurrences but there is implicit faith in this festival and this is the second time I have attended it. I also had the fantastic opportunity of interacting with one such Theyyam and asked him if he remembers anything of what transpires from when he dons the head gear till such time as his performance concludes and he stated that he is in a sort of trance and is not himself and does not remember any interaction at all. It is a matter of belief and faith.
Details of my image.
Shot on my Z9, F 2.8, 24-70mm lens, ISO 640, shutter speed 1/320.
As usual I would like frank and forthright feedback on the image so that I can learn and improve. Thank you.

I think that you have an excellent image that is a metal winner in PJ or Travel, and maybe pictorial.   Posted: 05/10/2025 18:13:22
