I'm really at a loss to review this image for several reasons - first it has a ton of impact and tells a terrific story - just a dynamite capture and if I were judging in a photo club contest I'd give it a 10 on a ten point scale with the following caveat - "An absolutely spectacular capture that would not score well in a PSA Nature competition due to the lack of detail - but, in the OPEN category, wow, it's a winner because it's a dramatic and dynamic story while being a bit surreal - that said, in my VF I removed the two static pelicans and converted to BxW (discoloration in the color version) I felt detracted from the story as well as being a bit at odds with the image title - "White Pelicans LANDING on Delvalle Lake" with landing being the operative word. I also re-cropped to focus more on the synchronicity of the action -
All in all, a wonderful shot, wish I had take it

Great capture with the 3 pelicans all landing at the same time in a v formation. The reflections and the water semi smoothness is very good. I like what Butch did to the image to get rid of the 2 stationary pelicans and converting to mono.   Posted: 04/19/2025 18:47:37

Great capture! I'd crop a bit to remove the 'dead' space in the front, but otherwise not change anything. The image you posted was very small so it was tricky to see the detail. I probably agree with Butch and removing the non-landing birds, but I didn't think they were a problem at the time.   Posted: 04/20/2025 15:45:06
