About the Image(s)
This was shot on my recent trip to Sri Lanka. We were going around a few small islands in the marshes around Colombo when I spotted this action scene. A cormorant had just caught a fish and was in the process of swallowing it whilst still alive. It looks as if the fish is eyeing the bird and asking "What next"?? I guess I was very lucky to witness this and even luckier to be able to take a picture. As usual I would like feedback from the other members as to how it can be improved. Thank you.
Shot on my Nikon Z9, F8, 1/500 shutter speed, 400 mm focal length, White balance- direct sunlight.

Whoa! Hoshedar, you da man! What a perfect wildlife capture - and you give too much credit to luck - capturing this type of actions isn't accidental - terrific job   Posted: 04/07/2025 22:26:15
Great technical skill to have such a great focus on the main subject area with an excellent depth of field. I really like the pattern of the water behind the pair. A really great nature image.
I am curious if the bird was able to swallow the fish. The fish seems rather large for the bird and what looks like a spike at the top might also prevent swallowing it.   Posted: 04/19/2025 19:30:30

Amazing shot! Gruesome, but what action and expressions! You ask what could make it better and I think very little. Being picky I might remove that lighter 'line' in the water at the front as it does draw the eye - maybe also the triangle at the back. Just because judges hate 'distractions' round the edges. Obviously, in a Nature competition though this would not be acceptable.   Posted: 04/20/2025 15:50:29
