Still life isn’t my thing and I don’t play the violin nor do I know anyone who does, but my wife bought a used violin a couple of years ago for one of our grandkids who decided not to play so it sat in our closet for years, and one day I decided to photograph it just for fun. I Googled sheet music and printed two pages and taped them together to give me a third prop for the composition - I then took window blinds that I use to create shadows for still life images and shot an off camera flash thru the window blinds to create the just “afternoon” shadows. Meanwhile, I kept an incandescent lamp on to create the soft lighting I wanted, but realized that between the long exposure, the warm lamp and reddish tone of the violin the color image was warmer than I wanted. Besides, it seems every time I fool with saturation and vibrance indoors the light just doesn’t seem right so I converted to B&W - however the monochrome absolutely lacked the warmth I was looking for so in LR I went to Profiles in the Basic Panel and chose one of the 17 options LR gives you, then warmed it by going duo tone - I did not want sepia so I played with the sliders and settled on +33 Hue and +20 Saturation to give me the warmer monochrome image you see here.
