Double Tulips by Judith Flacke

April 2025 - Double Tulips

About the Image(s)

Wandering past a local florist's shop the other day I saw some reduced bunches of flowers. Most were still fairly fresh but there was one bunch of distinctly tired double tulips - as per pic. Now, I just LOVE double tulips, and the fact they were a bit droopy and sad meant they were irresistible. The florist was, it seems, a bit bit embarrassed - as she gave be another (free) bunch of single tulips to compensate for the poor condition of this last bunch of double ones!
Photographed against background of net curtain, with added colour and texture layers in Photoshop.
New camera - still learning it! - Canon R6ii with 24-105 (kit) lens, 8 sec, f10, iso 200. Dim, ambient light supplemented by some light painting with torch/flashlight.

Judith, I am not in Group 07, but I had to comment. I absolutely love what you did with this image! It's so dreamy and evokes a state of calmness. I would love to hear more about your process. In particular, the texture layering and the torch/flashlight painting. Excellent work!   Posted: 04/01/2025 16:59:02
