About the Image(s)

Seedheads in Vase

Just some bits and pieces in a rather lovely and unusual glass vase. However, as ever with lovely and unusual glass vases, reflections were a pain in the base - you could see the whole of the 'studio' space! I've done my best with photoshop - but is this good enough? I love the image anyway, slight texture and backdrop both created by me. Backlit by lightpad but with studio flash also.
Usual camera (new toy arriving soon though: excitement mounts!). Taken at 1/250, f7.1, iso 200, 14-150 usual lens.

This is really creative Judith, and I understand about working with glass and reflections, but it is fun. Your composition is really Interesting with a capital "I" - and that's the strength of the image IMO - in my VF I tried to accentuate the detail in the image, especially the 3-dimensional faded frame - nice job with this, not all still life images are interesting, this one is. Note, the website is not accepting my VF - I'll try to post it again later - I've had this issue before and sometimes I have to shut down my computer to get this site to accept my images   Posted: 02/09/2025 14:53:45

You really did it! I think what you left of the reflections is fine! It all works and your backdrop make a perfect setting! I like the diagonal feel starting with the light in the face and continuing through the grasses.   Posted: 02/12/2025 23:38:54

The glassware is so lovely and as fragile looking as the plants. I believe you have fully achieved your goal. I would gladly display the vase or the image in my home. Well done!   Posted: 02/13/2025 04:46:01

What an unusual but beautiful vase that you used very effectively. The reflections do not bother me. The plants are also very unusual. You are an artist to have arranged the plants in the vase. The slight textured background adds to the image. I like the reflection of the lower part of the vase, as it gives the vase something to stand on, and I think that you are showing just the right amount. I really like the image, and can see nothing to improve it.   Posted: 02/15/2025 18:30:28
