For Christmas, one of my daughters gave me a window bird feeder, that was attached to a window with suction cups. Shortly after I put it up, we had a snow storm. During this storm, the bird feeder became very popular. I set up my Olympus camera with a Leica 100-400mm lens on a tripod away from the window (so as not to scare the birds). I took several photos of the birds, but liked this one the best, with the two birds interacting. It was taken at 161mm (322mm for 35mm equivalent), 1/160th second, f8, and ISO 400. I did crop in some and used Topaz Photo AI to sharpen and remove noise. Sadly I had to take it down a few days later as a squirrel found it and was eating all the seeds. Don't worry, the birds still had my backyard feeder with a squirrel guard.

I think this is a wonderful image, with the perfect interaction between the birds and a great background. I imagine for Nature so no tweaks allowed (not that it needs anything significant!). Magic!   Posted: 02/08/2025 14:49:20

Thanks. It is on a bird feeder, so I am sure it would not be eligible for nature.   Posted: 02/08/2025 14:55:19

Very creative and very clever Tom - I would not change a thing - you checked the three most important boxes in photography - the image has immediate impact, it's visually interesting and it tells a story - not too shabby for one click of the shutter :-)   Posted: 02/09/2025 14:41:19

The interaction and the stormy weather make the photo. The curve on the top of the feeder and yje seeds on the window add. It tells a story! Sorry about the squirrel. Good seeing and planning!   Posted: 02/12/2025 23:28:52

Very nice capture. The male with his crest under the curve is wonderful. The loose seeds imply a little action to this static shot. I can almost hear the "old married couple" talking...   Posted: 02/13/2025 04:00:56
