Oregon Driftwood by Tom McCreary, APSA, MPSA

December 2024 - Oregon Driftwood

About the Image(s)

This was taken a few years ago with my Nikon camera and 105mm macro lens at 1/250th second, f4.0 and ISO 200. I liked the tones and shape of the driftwood against the textures of the sand. I also liked the driftwood placement in the sand that showed how the water had flowed around it.

Tom - a beam of light on the driftwood could have made this image pop off the page.   Posted: 12/02/2024 15:38:32

I did add more light to the lower part of the driftwood with the Adjustment Brush in Photoshop, and did increase the contrast slightly.   Posted: 12/15/2024 23:01:12

I thin just more contrast would do! What a lovely find! The curves are fantastic and the hint of a shadow gives it depth.   Posted: 12/13/2024 04:15:13

Sharp subject. Abstract photography?   Posted: 12/13/2024 12:00:14

It is a very interesting subject that you noticed and captured. Most of us would have missed it. I like how you have highlighted the sand to contrast against the driftwood. Perhaps a bit higher contrast and saturation would enhance the driftwood. Well spotted Tom.   Posted: 12/20/2024 07:43:01
