About the Image(s)
This is the photo of an old canoe, turned upside down in an estuary south east of the island. The lens used was a Nikor 28-300mm at 92mm, ISO 320, Shutter speed 1/1250s and aperture f5.6. Some distractions were removed. Processed in ON1.

Gaetan - this is a nice shot and an interesting subject that creates a soft and peaceful mood. There are a couple of distractions in the upper left you might want to clone out and the yellow palm fronds along the top left of the frame. I think the viewer has a tendency to move his or her eye from the subject to the water to the right and above the subject so in my VF cropped in, denoised, upscaled, and sharpened - then I placed a slight vignette on the image as whole and lastly flipped horizontally so the viewer could let his or her eye travel from lower left to upper right instead of vice-versa   Posted: 11/08/2024 14:31:14

Interesting old canoe - with another hiding behind it. I find the distractions top left look like an eye peering through the undergrowth and could do with removal. I do also really like the flipped version as the boat then leads the eye into the image more. Is that also an old bottle washed up in the foreground? I'd remove that, too, as it just draws the eye.   Posted: 11/09/2024 17:17:33

You found and photographed an interesting old boat. I like that you have space around it showing the surroundings. I really like what Butch did with the image, especially the flip of the image.   Posted: 11/14/2024 20:28:01

I see a conflict between realistic and a bit exaggerated. I prefer the original. It feels more like a humid swamp which is why the boat is so dilapidated. Yes get rid of the bottle and burn down the yellow foliage in the top. That said, yes I would increase the midtown contest to make it pop a bit.   Posted: 11/15/2024 18:18:11

Agree with Butch on the water taking the attention away from the main subject. Cropping done by Butch is also great and the emphasis on the canoe is retained in the flipping of the image. I was wondering if by using a slower shutter speed you could have a gentler view of the water?   Posted: 11/26/2024 14:08:12
