About the Image(s)

I took this during a trip to the Puglia region of Italy. It is on the east coast along the Adriatic. They are known for their "trullo" which are houses made of limestone with cone shaped roofs. I saw this particular one and how there were others in the background and thought it would be a good shot. I do not know what I did to v=create the color imbalance so that it almost appears to be a color photo of one trullo on a monochrome background. I am also including the original.

The only changes I made were to crop and do some enhancement in Lightroom. I took this with my Canon EIS Digital Rebel, 18-55mm lens, speed 1/125 f/7.1 ISO 100.

Andres, an intriguing composition! You really did catch the trullo at just the right moment with the setting(?) sun illuminating it and nothing else. The triangle shape of the trullo leads the eye to explore the detail in the monochromatic background. A unique image for sure.   Posted: 07/07/2024 02:47:18

Andres, what a fascinating image! To me, it looks like the light was hitting just the cone roof the foreground and the rest was in shadow. By cropping out the sky and lighting the one roof, you emphasized the golden light in front. With the black and white structure of the other roofs, the background becomes almost an abstract. It's an intriguing shot.   Posted: 07/11/2024 16:01:58

Andres, I really like the effect you captured here. The light on the trullo is beautiful. The effect of it appearing as though the background is black and white makes it really the subject on which to focus. Very creative.   Posted: 07/15/2024 23:10:45

This is a wonderful photo. You were so lucky to get the sun just on the trullo. The centering of the interest point works well, especially since the buildings do not match right and left but have similarity to each other that makes is much more interesting than just flipping the image to achieve mirror symmetry. The color is also perfect, beautiful, yellow range with a blue range.. Very well done. Good seeing.   Posted: 07/16/2024 19:21:27

Hi Andres,
It's a very interesting image! The lighting effects have transformed the quality of your image into stunning, professionally-lit one!
In order to achieve the selected colored subject and the rest in B&W, I think that we normally need to set multiple exposure shots in camera or via the post processing using layers in PS. Here, you achieved the shot naturally and it's amazing! I especially like the way you composed the image with the main subject positioned towards the road below, and let the viewers see the "trulli" scene of stone huts with distinctive conical roofs behind. Very well done!   Posted: 07/17/2024 12:48:50

Cheers! This is a great shot, and my complements for capturing the contrast in colors between the subject and the background with minimal post-processing.   Posted: 07/27/2024 20:43:54
