About the Image(s)
I took this photo in Teton National Park in July while observing a herd of bison from a distance. A group of tourists wandered very close to the grazing bison, which made me very uncomfortable. The man in the white shirt in my photo, I thought was being particularly careless as he turned his back to the agitated bison. As he walked back to his car, I saw that he was even carrying a small dog.
I used my Canon EOS R6 at 400 mm, f/16, 1/320. In Lightroom and PhotoShop, I cropped, saturated, and dodged and burned, especially to bring out the bison's head. As always, I appreciate your comments.

Ruth, Good catch. This also happened to me when in Yellowstone where a group of. f foreign tourists were wandering around right in a group of Bison. I warned the and hoped that they took it to heart. What fools these mortals are!
Your composition is excellent and the bison nearest to the man looks really threatening, but because of the size, may be a female. They may be less vicious. In any case, you have told us a great story. Well cone.   Posted: 12/01/2025 21:12:43

Thanks, Joan, for your comments. You're probably right that this bison might be female, but it looked plenty irritated at the tourist.   Posted: 12/13/2025 18:07:16
Agree. Absolutely clueless and reckless   Posted: 12/02/2025 01:48:33
Ruth, clueless is right. And obviously not a photographer or he would have been taking a photo of the bison to his right. Great shot. I like your cropping. It isolates his recklessness rather than the group. I assume from the 400mm focal length that you were significantly farther away. :-)   Posted: 12/04/2025 21:51:25
Yes, I was quite a ways back. I was happy to stay at a distance with bison involved.   Posted: 12/13/2025 18:08:19
Ruth, nice sharp capture of the agitated bison. Composition is good with the bison to the right and the trees in background are blurred. I really enjoy your landscape and wildlife images! I notice the two people on the left in your original photo. I played with that image a bit to try and bring in the bison on the left. I deleted the two people and then expanded the image using generative fill...just for fun. I don't know what people are thinking...and to have a dog with him! He is very lucky.   Posted: 12/17/2025 22:00:52
