About the Image(s)
This image was taken at Amber Fort in Rajasthan, India. It is located high on a hill, and is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Amber Fort has over 100 working elephants that give rides to tourists up to the hill on the cobbled path and down the steep paved floors. I had a chance to ride the elephant too. I was scared at first, but it was fun!

Kieu-Hanh, what a lovely scene and perspective from which you took the image. The red on the elephants bring the view right to them against the yellowish surroundings and then the path leads right into the background. I notice that the background appears hazy and yet the elephants are clear. Was there a haze over the area that day? I imagine riding an elephant would be quite the adventure and being so high up would be scary! What a great capture of this memorable time.   Posted: 03/15/2025 15:11:54
Thanks for your comments,Mary Ann! Yes, there is a haze in that area. I also focused on the elephants for this shot and I thought that less sharp in the further distance is acceptable.   Posted: 03/27/2025 11:36:25
I like the red of the parading elephants. They look so majestic as they head towards the golden gate. The wall forms an accompanying line as well. Since the background is hazy, I wonder if it would help to crop the top down to include the golden large building. To me that would let my eyes focus more on the elephants. How exciting that you got to ride the elephant!   Posted: 03/17/2025 15:43:51
Thanks, Ruth, for your comments! I agree that the tight crop would help, but I purposely wanted to show the scenic view of Amber Fort in this shot.   Posted: 03/27/2025 11:41:16
Hi Ruth,
I crop tighter on the top to show only the S-curve of the fort in my response to Michael's comments. Let me know if it works. Thanks!   Posted: 03/28/2025 01:46:53

Nice shot of the elephants and the scenery. I agree with Ruth about the crop. The colors are really great. Showing the elephants from behind allows the eye to go to the path they are taking from the bottom of the photo to the middle. Nicely done.   Posted: 03/19/2025 02:22:03
Thanks for your comments, Andres! There are 2 lanes for the elephants ride. One on the left are going up to the gate, and one on the right are coming down to the platform.   Posted: 03/27/2025 12:18:10
What a wonderful experience! Riding on the back of an elephant. My bucket list, which will not happen, was to ride on the black of a camel. Gotten too old for that.
I loved that we could see how many elephants there were at the Amber Fort. The color of your photo certainly matches the name of the place. T he long scene g ives is lots of things to look at including the nice shadows. The area in the distance is probably showing the pollution which is prevalent in India. Using the Diffuse menu in ACR will help make it look cleaner. Otherwise, congratulations for your audacious ride and giving us a great photo of the area.   Posted: 03/20/2025 20:43:44

Thanks, Joan, for your comments! I agree with your comments. I wish I had a tripod to shoot the scene by HDR to make the scene in the distance sharper.   Posted: 03/28/2025 01:21:29
Hi Kieu-Hanh.
I, too, visited the Amber Fort a year ago. Indeed a most impressive structure. Your image is well exposed and sharp. As for the crop - a matter of artistic choice. Your crop is more in keeping with your title, as it gives more context and a sense of how high up the fort is. A tighter crop focuses more on the elephants.   Posted: 03/21/2025 16:41:01

Thanks for your comments, Michael! In this image, I'd want to present the whole scenic view of Amber Fort. To me, the elephants with red drapes make the scene more beautiful. Too bad that it was foggy due to air pollution that the further distance of Amber Fort could not be clearer.
Per everyone's comments above, I try to crop tighter on the top to focus more on the S-curve of the fort. Let me know if ít works.   Posted: 03/28/2025 01:43:41

Yes, I like this crop, Kieu-Hanh. Thanks for your explanation about the haziness.   Posted: 03/30/2025 01:11:34
