Sunflowers in Vase by Judy Merson

July 2024 - Sunflowers in Vase

About the Image(s)

I took this with natural window light from our right. My Sony a6000 camera was on a tripod and I set a timer to minimize camera movement. The flowers were in front of a black velvet cloth. I took it into Photoshop CC and put a subtle texture only on the background. I put a stroke around the outside.

Very nice lighting Judy and good dof. For me the crop is a little tight and I might add a smidge to the left and right to get it closer to a 3x2 format.   Posted: 07/05/2024 20:40:53

Hi Judy: The yellow sun flowers against the dark background creates a lot of impact. Interesting vase, it reminds me of those glass quart containers milk used to come in back in the 1950 era.
I do concur with Dan in that you need a little more space on each side of the flowers, feels kinda tight.

Good idea to add the thin white border.   Posted: 07/07/2024 04:57:22

As mentioned above, the flowers need more space around. The yellow flowers against the black background give a nice contrast.   Posted: 07/08/2024 16:19:22

JUdy, nice concept, agree with above and suggest making the background more muted color wise to get rid of reddish object on right side and something whitish in upper right corner. Ray   Posted: 07/18/2024 01:10:48

I agree with the other comments.
I like the idea, and the color. The space under the bottle is ok for me. More space on the other sides could improved the picture.   Posted: 07/24/2024 19:35:42
