1/320, f/18, ISO 2500 at 105 mm (Macro - FF), at sunset.
Always in my neighborhood. I like the challenge to try to catch an insect on a flower. It is more for the combination of both than only for the flower.
I didn't change the background to keep the atmosphere of the vegetation.
LR: increased the texture et exposition. Decreased highlight and shadow. Cropped as it wasn't directly taken in the square format.

I love the insect and the sun angle gave nice dimension to the petals without blowing out the highlights. The background could be a little less sharp but overall very nice.

Hi Vincent: Nice subject. Regarding sharpness; the small insect seem fairly sharp however the left side of the central yellow round part (pistil) has been burnt out by the evening sun and has very little detail.
Composition wise there is another alternative to using a square format, and that is just the standard format similar to Sevinc's picture of a single flower. That would allow you a lot more picture area.
Regarding background; Your white flower picture would be greatly improved if the brightest grass blades in the background were toned down... as is they are quite distracting.   Posted: 10/07/2026 21:05:00
