About the Image(s)

I often photograph at a waterlily nursery, a very special place. This was taken with my Olympus OM1 Mk11 with an Olympus 90mm macro lens. ISO 320, 1/500, @ f/5.6 with a polarizer to darken the water and reduce small artifacts floating and still showing some sky reflection.

The pair seemed to go together nicely with a bud between... almost like a little family!

Hi Susan; Really nice Water Lily picture with good sharpness on the two flowers and soft lighting. A nice habitat picture.

Just my two cents: The two Lilies are kind of in the center of the picture, I would crop some off the bottom of the frame perhaps about 1/3 and in doing this the Lilies would make a great base for your picture.   Posted: 07/02/2026 14:57:06

Thank you, Murphy. I really like that crop!   Posted: 07/02/2026 17:00:44

I have cropped the image so that the waterlilies are the main subject of the photo. I find too much leaves on the water. The flowers are sharp and offer good contrasting colours with the background.   Posted: 07/07/2026 13:59:15

Nicely done. Did the polarizing filter remove some of the water shine (reflection)? I think the resulting highlights reflecting off the water would have looked nice.   Posted: 07/07/2026 16:47:11

Thanks Mo. Without the polarizer the glare is very distracting. I played around with it and liked this the best. To much polarization and the water turns black!   Posted: 07/07/2026 16:55:23
