About the Image(s)

1/200, f/13, ISO 6400 at 44 mm
Almost a square format. I want to isolate the background, and I let the leaves in the center to let colors. I made a (double) mask of the background that I darken. Treatment in LR (noise, increased texture, clarity and vibrance).

Again a picture of the Royal Greenhouse. There are too many flowers (and pictures...) and names to try to remember them of to take a picture of the differents names.
Sorry for the titel...

Hi Vincent: A very interesting flower. While the featured version with the black background is certainly okay from a technical standpoint I prefer the original. The original tells a nature story and provides more of a sense of scale with the various types of leaves that surround the round grouping individual yellow flowers.

The featured version with the black background seems to float in space where the original is nestled in a grouping of leaves that provide a good base for the round flower.

Just my thoughts...

What an amazing image. I love it so much. The flower looks like its heading towards the viewer proudly! I love both versions. Love the composition. Love the colors. Big fan   Posted: 05/05/2025 17:02:34

Vincent - its called a pocketbook plant (among many other names). While I like your final version, the absence of a stem (not that there is one) really makes it seem like floating in space and without a white border, it seems like a big space. I agree with Murphy that leaving albeit very faint leaves in the background would have help to ground the flowers. See attached as an example.   Posted: 05/08/2025 13:36:31
