Cosmic Bouquet by Mo Devlin

March 2025 - Cosmic Bouquet

About the Image(s)

This is a frozen bouquet of flowers composited on a fractal that I made in a program called Frax. I used Topaz to add a starfield. Many times I'll have the photo I want and a general direction on what I expect. This one wasn't cooperating. It took a few tries until I got the color blend. It's loud and colorful. I have a large print in my house. The only way to view it IMHO.

Hi Mo: A very artful bouquet of flowers; a lot going on in this picture and a lot to look at. I like all of the twinkling stars against the pink and blue background.
A creative picture with high impact.   Posted: 03/03/2025 10:24:15

Hi Mo, this is retro chic! with a hint of fantasy art in the colorways. Evocative and familiar somehow. Are there multiple pictures layered here?   Posted: 03/03/2025 17:40:25

Hey, thanks. I like that description. As to images, one with just the frozen flower the other a fractal JPEG that I created and blended/masked to get the effect. The stars were a Topaz filter. Thanks again.   Posted: 03/03/2025 17:57:11

Mo, Mo, Mo - you keep on showing us how to make art out of a photo - enjoyed the image a lot - my only picky picky comment is that I think there is not enough room at the top (it looks like the tip of a leaf was cut off) - so may be add space in PS or just delete that leaf. Same for the leaf at 10 o'clock although in this case the edge of the image cuts the end off. It kinda leads my eye out of the image. Ray   Posted: 03/13/2025 20:08:29

Thanks Ray. I see your point. And it's valid. I might do some photo magic on it. Appreciate the comment.   Posted: 03/13/2025 20:17:06

As usual, great Mo. I was worth trying different times.
The star field brings a lot (I really appreciate it).
Nice colors, not too flashy.
I also agree with the comment of ray about the top and the leave at 10 o'clock, and you also agree...   Posted: 03/23/2025 10:49:44

Hi Mo, just visiting from DD29 and DD18, after looking at this month's DD Members Showcase https://psadigital.org/. "Siren" is a gorgeous image. After reading your carefully crafted bio then visiting your website, I see that you are an accomplished professional with much to teach us mere amateurs. I'll look in from time to time and see if your descriptions give me any much needed help. Even though I'm retired Navy, I can see you learned much in the Army. Have a good day.   Posted: 03/26/2025 15:12:59

Bob, thanks man. One of the things I learned pretty quick after getting involved on this sit is that there are a lot of very accomplished photographers showing amazing work. Appreciate the nod. One thing I like more than taking photos is talking about taking photos. Much appreciated.
And I wasn't aware that we could comment on other groups. GOod to know. Will check out your stuff. ;)   Posted: 03/27/2025 14:49:29

I usually look each month at the Current Images https://psadigital.org/groups/images.php and see if I enjoy any image enough to offer praise or my opinions. My work is average at best. It helps study group members to add original images so we can produce examples of our suggestions. I realize as a professional you are presenting finished work, rather than asking for suggestions, but it is still fun for some of us to see what we can create from the original. I'm glad as an admin to have pros in DDG.   Posted: 03/27/2025 18:26:10
