About the Image(s)
This is a frozen flower photo. Typically, when I get a good piece of ice, I will look at it from all angles to determine points of interest. This is a practice that has blessed me with many opportunities that I never expected. While flipping this around I saw this beautiful heart shape and thought what better for the month of love.
The photo was shot with a Nikon z6 and 105mm lens.”

Hi Mo: An intriguing scene. Technical quality in your images is always spot on, as it is in this picture.
From a composition standpoint there are likely a few ways you could flip this picture; in flipping to the right 90 degrees would produce a horizontal version. The small sprig of greenery would then be growing out of the top and it would look natural. Just a thought !!   Posted: 02/07/2025 05:20:06

Thanks Murphy. I do see your point. Like most of my ice photos I shoot several angles. I did consider cloning that tiny bit of green.   Posted: 02/07/2025 12:10:44
Different angles of view give different picture and we can choose the best one. When we can move the subjet (as you did) you can reach the same objective. Well done.
I like the frozen air particules (I suppose) that give an impression of "explosion" in the background. There are less present on the left. This can rise questions.   Posted: 02/13/2025 13:05:54

I've been freezing flowers for nearly a decade now. And while I've perfected this to a point where some results are predictable, there's a part that is simply left to chance. The angle of the light obviously plays a role in highlighting the frozen bubbles, but like most things, what adds detail in one area can affect another adversely. Thanks for the comment Vincent.   Posted: 02/13/2025 13:37:51
The shot gives you a lot to look at and inspect. Its pleasing for sure. Technically great from the small amount I understand. My eyes might have prefered a little less going on around the edges but likely a consequence of this poor monitor soon to be replaced!   Posted: 02/15/2025 20:46:45
Super image to give to a loved one - imagine it frames in someones bedroom asa. reminder for all time. And, you point out the importance of looking from different perspectives. I like the way the ice changes texture and I even like the little twig coming out at 9 o'clock. Ray   Posted: 02/15/2025 23:40:40
