About the Image(s)
This was an unusual piece of art for me. The photograph is of a few daisies that I pulled from one of the floral arrangements at my mother’s funeral. Mom passed away two weeks ago. She liked so I plucked a few daisies as they were the most reliable for a good freeze. The flowers meant something to me and I wanted the memory preserved.
I have a process that I follow when I create and photograph frozen flowers. It's pretty consistent. One of the things I do all of the time is take lots of photos of the ice. Different angles, different light. Close/far. Then I move them to a computer and start the processing from one of what might be several dozen images. Didn't happen here. This was the first image I took of the iced flower, and it just felt right. Never looked at the rest. Mom's hand was guiding me. I see the daisies, like a barrier between sunny skies and the vast unknown. Pearls, a sign of purity and love, the souls of loved ones on their way to the vast heavens. And the largest pearl...mom.
The photo is composited and blended with a sky photo and post produced using Photoshop and Topaz Suite.
Shot with a Nikon Z9, and 105mm lens. It’s an HDR using three separate exposures at .07ev.

A lovely photo to have as a memorial of your Mom and the event of her passing. My wife and I have both said the last goodbye to our parents and know it is a very difficult and emotional time. Our sympathies are with you, and trust you will find peace and comfort in the beautiful and thoughtful photo that you have created.   Posted: 11/02/2024 18:52:38
