About the Image(s)

It’s my busy time, so going to show an older image this month. I posted a version of this barn back in March 2021 (see ⬓originalâ¬), but for some reason, this one is the version I’ve always gravitated towards, and ended up printing. Which do you prefer? I think today, I would punch up the sky a bit more on this one.

Hi Jack. I like the current version better. The composition is very dynamic, having the barn on the left and the clouds spreading upwards from the same bottom left area. Processing is great and the picture is beautiful. Nicely done.   Posted: 07/01/2024 12:06:33

Hi Jack
I too like the current version and the way you have processed the image. On a minor point though, would you possibly consider extending the canvas (just a touch!) at the bottom and the L/S. Otherwise, a terrific image.   Posted: 07/02/2024 05:54:39

Greetings, Jack...

Wonderful leading lines from that sky to the dilapidated barn! This is my preferred version by far. Yes, you could easily punch up that sky to give more boldness and visual impact to the composition, but it's strong either way. Well done. Oh, I do think Palli's comment about extending the canvas...the barn's a bit tight in the corner, even compared to your earlier version. See my adjusted version, adding in some contrast and more space in the left and bottom borders and see if you like the result.   Posted: 07/03/2024 12:16:11

Thanks Gary, and Palli also, yes I think this is an improvement.   Posted: 07/03/2024 16:04:03

Jack,
Very nice! This rendering is much more dynamic than the other image you posted. The sky radiating from structure really works well. I agree with Gary and Palli about extending the image and punching up the sky.

By the way, it's actually a schoolhouse and I can attest that it is leaning even more now than when you shot it. That truck chassis can only do so much!   Posted: 07/04/2024 16:33:53

Jack,

The placement of the barn (aka schoolhouse I have photographed it as well) on the left complemented by the clouds fanning out over it the make your shot very compelling.

I tend to agree with Palli about extending the left part of your frame to add more space to the barn

Nice work

Hi Jack, The gorgeous dramatic sky leading us to the structure is just great. I agree with both adding some canvas in the lower corner and contrast to create some more. light   Posted: 07/06/2024 16:00:58

Jack, I like this version better. I agree with you about trumping up the sky, and my eye wants a bit less clutter on the back, right side of the house (a preference more than a suggestion).   Posted: 07/16/2024 20:07:11
