About the Image(s)
Natirar is a small county park near me. Besides walking there with the dog, it’s my preferred location for family shoots in the fall. Both the east and west sides of it have hills with trees that turn orange in the fall, so I have a nice background any time of the day. This picture is pretty much a straight shot with tonal adjustments in ACR and Photoshop. Noise reduction and sharpening were done in Topaz DeNoise AI.
Taken with the Nikon D300, set to ISO 100, 1/50 sec, f13, EV -0.33.

Thanks you. It was 90 degrees outside. The patches are moss on the bark. We rarely have snow when there are leaves on the trees. Posted: 07/03/2024 19:27:02
Along the lines of what Gary said, what I believe is patches of moss on the front tree trunk makes this for me, brings me into the scene. I'm guessing this is one of those faux snowy scenes made possible by infrared, or maybe there is actually some snow? The fact I have a hard time discerning this shows how effective this is. Really nicely done. At the risk of seeming overly whimsical, the composition brings to mind an army of trees (Ents?) following a battle-scarred general while the villagers stand at the sidelines. The color IR helps give it an other-worldly feel. Posted: 07/04/2024 16:25:42

Hi Arik, This is truly beautiful. The tones you have chosen are perfect. The light and moss on the foreground tree just draws me right in. Perfect "snow" scene for IR. Posted: 07/06/2024 15:55:39

Arik, this is the kind of IR image most folks think was taken in winter, which is a tribute to how you so cleanly and skillfully processed it. I like the pure whites and nature blue sky. How you captured the shadows gave depth and increased interest in this lovely image. Posted: 07/16/2024 19:41:37
