About the Image(s)
I finally threw in the towel and rendered an IR shot in false color. I took this image with snow on the ground, fairly late in the day with an ominous sky in early February this year. Color does open up processing opportunities. (I
plan to avoid pink trees at all costs.)
Workflow: I rendered the image using Red Blue channel swap I had loaded into Lightroom , a touch of Detail Extractor and then the masking tools in LR to dodge and burn the image. As you know I do like dramatic skies and this one has it.
Camera: 720nm Canon 7D, Canon 24-105 f4 lens at 24mm, 1/400 sec at f11, ISO 200, -.33 EV

Hi Emil. Nice composition of the tree, as the main subject, and the winding path. Keep playing with IR colors. The scene here doesn't have much, because of the overcast sky, but I agree that the opportunities are inviting. The 720nm filter limits the amount of color and works best on sunny days. I have two cameras converted with 720nm filters.   Posted: 10/01/2026 14:22:28
Emil, finally you have given in to the cult of false colors, and with good results. On a day and time of year when good light is rare, you have abstracted a worthy image. The sky is dynamic and I like the inclusion of the path (being another "path-o-logical" composer).   Posted: 10/01/2026 15:00:05
I do like the leading line created by the path. Also the bare branches against a dramatic sky add interest.   Posted: 10/02/2026 18:48:07
Melanie,
That was the missing step to fix the dullness
Thanks
