About the Image(s)

This is from my trip to Canada in September. We were able to go to Banff, which is full very scenic locations. This is Vermilion Lakes with Mount Rundle in the background, just outside of Banff. I chose this image because how the algae in the pond was captured on IR. It looks like the pond is full of hair!
Sony AcR with 35 prime: 1/160 f 5.6 ISO 100. Post processing was mostly global with adaptive B&W, exposure corrections and adding clarity and dehaze

Hi Steve. Beautiful scene and picture. The landscape and sky are great for IR and add drama to the image, but the pattern in the water are really captivating. I suspect that you saw it and chose your composition to concentrate on the foreground. Very nicely done.   Posted: 10/01/2026 14:22:51

Thanks Arik. I made a vertical image at the same time to include more of the algae but I forgot to check the sharpness on the mountain in the background.   Posted: 10/02/2026 18:50:10

Steve, I know this place, near Banff? The foreground is eye candy. So interesting. It contrasts with the textures in the distant shoreline and mountains. Nice work.   Posted: 10/01/2026 14:51:08

Thanks Charles. Yes it is very close to Banff. I forgot to include the description when I sent it to Melanie.   Posted: 10/02/2026 18:53:58

Hi Steve. This is a very pleasing landscape and you have processed well. The highlight for me is the algae in the water. I can't stop looking at it. It would make an interesting texture.   Posted: 10/04/2026 18:20:25
