The Allegany National Forest and Allegany State Park Forest conjoin to form one of the largest stretches of wilderness in the Northeast. Using a Jeep on forest roads and trails is a reasonable way to navigate this primitive territory, however, when I took this IR photograph, I was hiking.
The late afternoon light was lovely and the downward angle of the Jeep trail captured my attention. To render the final image, I used Nik Silver Efex Pro to darken shadows on the edges and raise highlights in the center, then touching it up with the Dodge Tool. Finally, I employed Topaz AI to reduce noise and sharpen slightly. Camera stats: Nikon D7000 (590nm), f/5.6, 1/50, 48mm, ISO=200.

The jeep path takes you into your image and it makes me wonder what is around the bend ahead, The mottled light adds interest and says the Sun is low in the sky being filtered by the trees.
I think this is the first shot you have posted of this area? You might try a few more

Nice work with the curved road, leading the viewer into the scene. The grasses helped by adding interest and creating a bright path. Simple and beautiful. Posted: 08/01/2026 17:54:02

This round has some wonderful scenic nature scenes and this is another great example. Like the others, I really like the composition and the jeep tracks take you eye right into the scene.
I think the only thing I might suggest is to add a linear gradient from the bottom up to darken the foreground just slightly and then brighten the end of the path area slightly to bring you eye more into the scene. Posted: 08/17/2026 02:51:51
