Steve, the energy in the details, tonality and contrast in the sky make this a powerful image. How the natural, disorderly sky contrasts with the planned, human-made rows of corn and unnatural presence of wind turbines adds interest. There is some asymmetry in the image that is attention fetching and suggests dynamic movement. Well done.

I am glad you shared another shot from your storm chase. The wide farm area gives us sense of the enormity of storm cloud. the energy these storms have is just scarry .

I took the liberty of trying two things. In Lightroom I placed the top half of a radial gradient at the bottom of the frame about in the center and raised the exposure just a touch to bring out the corn rows as a leading line without going over board. I then placed a radial gradient over the lower left of the cloud and increased texture, clarity and reduced dehaze and the black sliders just a touch to bring out the cloud details there

I like the drama in the sky. It picture tells a story about the weather and the whole scene. Tried to add some brightness and contrast to the picture and a bit more to the field, using the linear masking tool.   Posted: 08/01/2026 18:04:03

You got some great images on this trip, Steve! This is great, simple, beautiful, but as the others have said, it's a bit flat as to contrast, and would benefit from light dodging in the fields and burning of the sky, along the lines of what Arik and Emil have posted.   Posted: 08/02/2026 16:48:59

A great storm cloud image. It is really amazing how the clouds can look so powerfull. Very nice composition with the very low horizon to give the story to the clouds but adding the windmills and straight rows of field add interest.

I was going to suggest lightning and adding contrast to the foreground and like what Arik has done. The only thing I would add to his version is a linear gradient to the foreground and darken the very bottom a little with getting lighter towards the horizon to bring your eye into the scene.   Posted: 08/18/2026 02:43:25
