About the Image(s)

I have an ongoing project of making High key images. When this was converted it seemed to fit the bill. I did like the color rendition and chose not to convert to black and white. So I'm presenting my first high key IR image and I hope you enjoy it.
This was taken on the very scenic Turquoise Highway between Albuquerque and Sante Fe. It's a truly lovely excursion and we really enjoyed the drive.
After the usual conversion, I straightened and cropped. I did increase the high key aspect on the lower half while leaving the sky alone. Sharpened with Topas AI and added some texture.

This is one of better false color images our group has posted in my opinion. I have been here awhile and seen many of them

I love the effect high key has on your image it grabs the eye immediately.

You might consider bringing up the white siding od the building so its stands out and darken the roof for contrast

Well done and looking forward to more High Key imagery

Melanie, thank you for experimenting. I like the balance of the soft blue tones in this image. The clouds seem understated, but that is all part of the gestalt you want to create.   Posted: 07/01/2026 14:57:24

Hi Melanie. Your idea and interpretation of this high-key scene are interesting. You created a beautiful painterly picture. The blueish tones in the landscape work well. Very nicely done.   Posted: 07/01/2026 16:35:28

I find the bluish hue pleasing... much better than the B&W version. Is your camera full spectrum converted or 720?   Posted: 07/01/2026 17:40:52

Hi Melanie,
As with the others, I like your processing. While I default to monochrome IR, I do enjoy a good color rendering and this is no exception. I do think a tighter crop might be in order, however. The structure tends to get lost in my opinion. In my version, I've cropped in from the left, top, and bottom to put the tree and building more front and center.   Posted: 07/02/2026 16:34:15

While IR images often impart a snowy scene feel, this one does more convincingly than I've seen in a while! There's something about the understated sky, which has such a soft, soothing mood. Well done, Melanie.   Posted: 07/03/2026 15:00:14

Very nicely done. I like the details in the clouds and just enough color in the foreground so it is not completely white. I'm not a big fan of the completely white look which people think is snow but this foreground is very well done.   Posted: 07/08/2026 01:51:33
