About the Image(s)
Another image from my recent safari. These are wildebeests which are so common in Africa. This was taken on a 720 converted Sony CR camera and a 35-prime lens: 1/500, ISO 100, f7.1. Post processing was done in LRc using adaptive B&W, decreasing highlights, and increasing shadows. I did a great deal of masking, adding drama to the sky and the hillside in the background. I lightened the lead wildebeest a bit and finally removed the wildebeest on the far left that I cut in half.

Again Steve, you have shared a lovely image with us. What you did in processing to ignite the sky and reveal wildebeests in the foreground adds a lot of pop to another possible award winning photograph.   Posted: 04/01/2026 16:53:10

YES! Thanks for pointing that out. I will try that..   Posted: 04/13/2026 20:07:40
Very dramatic story-telling picture. Beautiful composition and excellent post processing that enhanced the impact. I like that one wildebeest is closer and creates a good center of interest.   Posted: 04/01/2026 19:47:19

Steve,
Well done Sir. The sky above is a perfect compliment to this group of beautiful animals who are probably at the low end of the food chain sadly.
I agree with lightening the lead wildebeast but you could also do the one to its left as well. They are the dominate players, it is an artist call here.

Emil

Very strong image, Steve! I echo Ariks comments.
Great clouds, yet I like the way the darker tones are in the animals, so that the sky adds to, but doesn't steal the scene.   Posted: 04/10/2026 01:26:00

Hi Steve, Another great African image. "They" say that Wildebeest are made up of all the leftover parts God had when He created the world. They are so ugly that they are beautiful! I like how you have included the scenic background with that lovely sky. If it were mine, I would crop out the animals on the left in order to have your main subjects off center. Your processing is spot on.   Posted: 04/14/2026 16:33:47
