About the Image(s)
This was taken about five years ago on a flight from Seattle to Atlanta. Whenever possible, I try to get a window seat when flying. I enjoy looking out and finding interesting landmarks as well as patterns and shapes. I typically have my IR camera with me since it does such a great job of cutting through haze and highlighting the features of the ground below. This scene was particularly rich in texture and I was pleased I was able to capture it.
Sony A6000 converted with a 720nm filter. Sony 18-105 F/4 lens. ISO 400, 46mm, f/4, 1/640. Shot handheld with my hand resting on the window. .

Good job, Henry, I havent' done this in a while, it always amazed me how much a good camera could catch a sharp image from 30,000 ft. This has beautiful patterns and textures.   Posted: 11/01/2025 20:20:08
Henry, your window must have been clean and/or what you attribute to IR is true. There is something plastic-looking about this image, which is interesting and intriguing. The shadows create a strong 3D effect.   Posted: 11/03/2025 18:02:12
Hi Henry. I love this type of pictures. I create landscape abstracts with my drones by having the camera point straight down, but I can only go up to 400 feet. Very nice presentation in B&W.   Posted: 11/04/2025 19:18:35
