About the Image(s)
I took this photograph recently near the picturesque town of Sedona Arizona. I hesitated converting it to black & white betraying the rich reds rendered by infrared. To create the final image, in select areas, I heightened contrast, brought out details in shadows, increased sharpness, and dodged some highlights.
I discovered that reducing noise early in processing works better especially when using programs like Nik Efex Pro. Why? Camera data: Nikon D7000 (590nm), f/9, 1/320, 36mm, ISO=100

Beautiful composition. I like teh scene and your processing. I wish the mountain wasn't in the shade, but you handled it well. Denoising the image is the first thing you do. It should be done before you start sharpening and increasing contrast to make the image pop. Otherwise, you make it more difficult to remove noise.   Posted: 04/02/2025 01:29:34
