About the Image(s)
The musical, “The Sound of Music” could have been filmed in the hills near where I live in Western New York. This is an image of a deep valley taken in the afternoon in June. I like the sky and the wide landscape view captured in this photograph. To render the final image I cropped it slightly, increased contrast in the sky, heighten some highlights, added a subtle warm filter, then reduced noise using
Topaz. Camera stats: Nikon D7000 (590nm), f/10, 1/500, 28mm, ISO=200.

Beautiful scene and a nice composition. I would try to make the foreground a bit lighter. The highlights in the original are nice.   Posted: 02/01/2025 20:03:55
Yes, highlights in foreground will give the image even more dynamic depth. Thank you Arik.   Posted: 02/05/2025 01:35:58
Like last month, you've got a beautiful scene that evokes all sorts of possibilities, a bit of the old west for me, though the building at left is perhaps too new for that. Again you've got a great sky, I would be tempted to punch it up a bit, as in blacker, but its nice as is.   Posted: 02/04/2025 23:57:50
The clouds crowd together near the distant horizon, but with a crafty use of a select tool, I bet a bit more black could be introduced. Thanks Jack for the suggestion.   Posted: 02/05/2025 01:38:46
Charles,
Lovely landscape that works really well in IR. Not much I would change here. Maybe open up the shadows of the building a bot and up the contrast in the sky.   Posted: 02/05/2025 04:53:09

Hi Charles,
Loads and loads of IR subject matter in this one. Nicely seen and captured. I don't have much to suggest, but I'd like to have seen this with a bit more of the cabin in the frame and not clipped in the composition.   Posted: 02/05/2025 12:41:46

Charles,
The cabin owner has one hell of a view as did you and your Nikon....
A thought for you is to enhance the "crop" area past the foliage in the foreground either using clarity or texture.... There are nice leading lines between the rows.

Hi Chuck, what a view! I could live with this on a daily basis. The layer upon layer effect is so pleasing. I wonder about pushing the whites to lighten up some of the grey. Great for the bottom layer of the clouds.   Posted: 02/11/2025 15:28:48
