About the Image(s)
The eastern end of the park is flat and dotted with these little “mounds”. I had never bothered to process this image from a trip to SD several years ago. So I submit it humbly for your consideration.
Workflow: After rendering the image in BW using NIK Silver Efex, I followed my standard procedure of using the LR masking tools to dodge and burn the image particularly the foreground.
Camera: 590nm Canon 5D Mk II, 24-105mm Canon f4 lens at 70mm, 1/80 sec at f11, ISO 100, .33EV

Henry,
My SOOC shot was underexposed. When I was doing my rendering I tried to address that but as you noted I have room to move the exposure up.
Thanks for your feedback

Nice work with the scene. Your post work pulled great details in the shadows. I also like Emils's and Gary's treatments.   Posted: 12/06/2024 21:48:46

Having visited there myself, I can appreciate how considered this composition is Emil. There are so many dramatic scenes, but here the simple procession of the five small formations in line works very well, for its mood, and understatement. A more dramatic sky would have taken away from the scene. The one you have works perfectly. I like your placement of the horizon , and the overall soft treatment. Well done.   Posted: 12/08/2024 23:23:34

Emil, I like the image as is. The light available did not give you many options to add tonal complexity, but you rescued this image. The final is far less flat and much more interesting than the original.   Posted: 12/10/2024 23:27:18
