About the Image(s)
What I liked about this was the way the water lilies render at the bottom, and the boat in the distance. Do you think the boat is prominent enough to contribute? Also, what do you think about my crop? It’s fairly low contrast, but it was a gray day, and I find it’s hard to get true whites in foliage infrareds before viewers start saying it’s too hot. Finally, I used a vignette to help frame it a little, but I worry the right edge is too dark now.

Jack,
It has a certain painterly feel that I find appealing. I think you could boost the whites quite a bit before you need to worry about overexposure and it would probably work well here. The boat is fine. It adds an element of interest as the viewer explores the frame. You could dodge the right edge a bit to bring out selective highlights yet preserve the vignette.   Posted: 12/03/2024 22:14:10

Jack,
A wonderfully tranquil scene that you created.
My thought is to dodge the tress along the bank on the right that are already light and burn the taller ones in the back to create a tonal range there.

Hi Jack,
I think this has a wonderful mood, and I agree those lily pads in the foreground really pop out in infrared. I used Detail Extractor in NIK Color Efex Pro and find the sky detail added to be a plus. Also, I set a true white point in Levels as Henry suggested. Finally, there was something on the upper right edge that looked like an intrusion of some kind...out of focus...so I cloned in foliage. See what you think about the adjusted version. Personally, the boat is so small it adds little to the composition for my eye.   Posted: 12/04/2024 22:46:12

Beautiful scene and picture. I like the soft tones in your picture. It captured the mood in the scene. I may try to adjust the white point and raise the highlights a little, but I wouldn't try to make it high contrast or sharper. Nicely done.   Posted: 12/06/2024 21:31:26

Jack, this is challenging light to work with. However, the reflection is very fetching and the scene overall is graceful. What about taking a risk with boat? Why not capture & copy it, enlarge it, then move it more towards the lilies?   Posted: 12/10/2024 23:07:05

Thanks, Charles, that sounds like a good idea, unfortunately, I don't have the software for more creative edits anymore.   Posted: 12/11/2024 23:29:01

Hi Jack, This is a beautiful tranquil scene. The soft processing works for me. I would not change the clouds. I might increase the contrast in the trees.   Posted: 12/11/2024 21:39:36
