About the Image(s)

I really liked the yellow coloring in this Lily. I'm not sure if I cropped it right, so any help would be appreciated. I used Topaz to sharpen and Photoshop to crop and enhance the colors. Taken at F5.3, 1/100 sec, ISO-400, 145mm

You did a wonderful job of photographing this Rebecca. With the stamens in the Center of the photo, my eye goes right to them and they look like candles standing tall... a very nice effect. I think it looks great just as it is, but if you wanted to play with crops, you could crop so the stamens are a bit more to the left. I tried it, what do you think? A different feel, but I do like yours.   Posted: 09/14/2023 11:13:11

"Hi Rebecca,
You have done excellent work with this image. I love the colors and details, and how the stamens are pointing straight up in the center of the image. Although I also like Fran's crop suggestion."   Posted: 09/15/2023 21:28:31

I love the colors in this image. I would like to see more sense of movement with the stamens rotated a bit to create some diagonal movement to the image and the eye. I would crop so the stamens are more to the right. This allows the eye to move into and through the image before it stops on the focal point. This tends to use more of the total image to tell the story and not lose the right half.
An important feature in our cameras is the histogram. I was suspicious of the reds being blown out in this image; they looked it to me. So, I looked at the histogram and found the bright reds are blown out. Reds are the first to be blown out in an image. When something in the image is blown out there is no detail in that part, it is lost and cannot be fixed in post. To correct this, you have to shorten the exposure time. The histogram is one of the best features in a camera. I hope you all use the histogram in your camera.   Posted: 09/16/2023 19:04:11

Hello Rebecca, I really like how you isolated the stamens! I agree with Fran, they look like candles! Fran gave you a good suggestion of cropping the image a little more to the right to make the stamen's pop.   Posted: 09/17/2023 21:38:11

Hi Rebecca, Gorgeous Neon image. There is really a wow Factor. The stamens are beautiful and sharp. I think you should play around with the crop and see if you like other versions.   Posted: 09/21/2023 13:51:37
