August 2026 - Queen Anne's Lace

I see many of these growing along sidewalks, etc., as I am sure many of you do also. I saw this one along a trail I frequently walk, and decided one cloudy day to carry my camera and tripod and capture this image from below the flower, as I found that angle more intricate and interesting than from above. Some editing to lighten the blue-gray of the sky and minor cropping.

This is quite a unique perspective of a Queen Anne's lace flower. I like your decision to shoot it from below as it makes all the details of the flower stand out against the white sky...like using a light box. Just beautiful! Posted: 08/02/2026 19:04:18
Wonderful perspective Mark! You captured beautiful, layered detail even though you have a very bright background. I really like this high-key effect. I know some say you should never have something coming directly out of a corner, but for this shot, I think the stem position works nicely. I'm not bothered a bit, LOL!

Great capture and an interesting angle of this Queen Anne's lace. I really like the different green tonalities, which showcase the intricate design of the flower, and I appreciate the level of detail you have captured in a single shot, thanks to using a tripod and a narrow aperture.
This year, we are having a very dry summer here in the north of Spain, and I think that is the reason why all the fields are covered with these beautiful flowers.
