About the Image(s)
I saw these crocuses under some trees in a neighbor's yard in mid-March. They were in the shade when I saw them in the morning, so I returned in the afternoon when the sun would be filtering through the trees and adding a nice glow to the flowers. I used a Lensbaby Soft Focus II lens to capture the soft glow that I saw.

This year, I learned to appreciate the short-lived beauty of crocuses and have been experimenting shooting them in different ways. I like your use of the Lensbaby soft-focus lens and will have to try it next year. I assume you also used a close-up filter or extension tube? Beautiful!   Posted: 04/04/2026 21:11:20

Good catch about the focal length. I forgot to add that I was using a Lensbaby +4 macro filter on the lens. Thanks for your comments.   Posted: 04/06/2026 00:24:29
Beautiful glowing crocus flowers Kim. You seem to have good control of your Lensbaby to gain just the right amount of focus to blur ratio. I have never felt confident with using Lensbaby lenses, except when stopping them down. Especially with the Velvet series, I love the way flowers are rendered when using stopped down apertures.   Posted: 04/06/2026 18:57:08
Great shot of crocus using Lensbaby. Nice composition with the nice background that Lensbaby gives the image. I have several Lensbaby lens which I have enjoyed using. There's a bit of learning curve learning to use them but fun.   Posted: 04/06/2026 23:56:02
Beautiful shot! Agee with other comments. This reminds me that I have been thinking of getting a Lensbaby lens for a while now.   Posted: 04/07/2026 17:40:50
Hi Kim,
I really like the soft glow of those crocuses. I also really admire your control of the Lensbaby technique. I don't have a Lensbaby myself, but the soft, painterly look it produces has always attracted me.   Posted: 04/12/2026 19:56:25
